Engineering Fabrication

Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication and Trade

Metal Fabricator, Fitter and Turner and Welder are currently on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), meaning they are professions with high long-term demand in Australia.

In Brazil, manufacturing engineering professionals may be even more in demand than engineers. Workers in these fields are responsible for cutting, shaping, joining, and repairing metal parts used in iron and steel structures, boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines, ships, and other vessels.

The Certificate III and IV in Engineering Fabrication and Trade courses prepare students to undertake a wide range of tasks in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Upon graduation, students will be able to work in various areas of engineering manufacturing, including:

  • Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand job requirements
  • Select, clean and prepare the metal material to be used
  • Cut sections and shapes marked in metal using hand tools, torches and cutting machines
  • Shaping and bending metal parts and tubes with hand tools or machines, and also through heating and hammering
  • Align the parts to be joined, using tools and measuring instruments
  • Join metal parts using welding, screwing or riveting techniques
  • Check the quality of the welds, analyzing width, depth and precision
  • Finish the products by cleaning, polishing, sanding or applying acidic solutions.
  • Clean and smooth welds with files, chisels or grinders
